Who am I? My name is Shawn Lucas. I’m 50 years old and a teacher in a small school in a small town in western Massachusetts. I have a wife of 25 years and three sons. I recently started to expand my ideas for “What ifs” in sports. This led to creating the web site Distant Replay Sports so that I can have them all in one place.
What is MLF? MLF stands for Major League Football. I came up with the idea that the AFL/NFL merger happened, but more along the lines of the old AL/NL merger in Major League Baseball. So, no interleague play until the championship. How might it change the history of the league? Initially, I thought that it might work as a replay league like the USFL Distant Replay and American Basketball Federation. But, in an attempt to keep things simple, I decided instead to write it as a wiki that collects the shared history of the league.
What does that cover?
- The Merger (1960-1970)
- Classic Era (1970-1989)
- Expansion Era (1990-2001)
- Integration (2001-2019)
After that, the timeline merges with our own again and the remainder of the history matches what we know from the NFL.
